ISS, a wholly subsidiary of Radiant Global Inc., Involved in the Community - Andhra Pradesh Flood Relief Activities 2009
The devastating flood of 2009 inundated huge parts of South India, leaving millions of families homeless and needing relief aid. As per the Media reports, the floods, billed as the worst in 100 years, inundated 500 villages. Towns like Kurnool, Nandyal, Mantralayam, Alampur, Repalle and parts of Vijayawada city were also submerged. The floods also caused massive damage to public infrastructure, houses, agriculture and livestock. The initial estimates by the state government have put the damage at Rs.12, 666 crore.
Integrated Software Solutions (ISS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Radiant Global Inc., is a renowned Hyderabad based Software Company, who feels responsible for the development and growth of the country, is involved actively in the recent flood relief activities by collecting employee voluntary relief fund across the company, and raised a good amount of fund to help about 100 families in the first phase. While over 10 employee volunteers went physically to help the needy victims. Thus helping meet critical needs, quickly and efficiently.
ISS noticed that Kurnool and other parts of the flooded areas are receiving the relief activities from various voluntary organizations and other Government bodies. Whereas Hundreds of remote villages on the Tungabhadra bank including Kutkanur, Maddoonur, Beerelli, Rajole, Kyathoor, Bhimavaram and Veepangandla in Mahabubnagar district, which were marooned, are still grim.
Hence, ISS has formed a voluntary team under the leadership of the Mr. C.V. Durgra Prasad, and did a brainstorming session on the given statistics and initiated the process of bringing together and collaborating with media TV5 to study the facts and choose Kutkanur, which is 260 Kms. away from Hyderabad, as the worst flood affected area, whilst, unattended place by anyone and proceeded with a team of 10 employee for a coordinated effort to use the resources in the best possible manner.
ISS volunteers went to the interior places of Mahaboobnagar Dist. that were badly affected by the flood. The roads were very bad and taking material to those places was a big ordeal.
As ISS Volunteers reached the Kutkanur Mandal, Mahaboobnagar Dist., Local Village President, who is looking after the relief operations, received the ISS team and expressed gratitude over ISS’s team visit into this remote area to help the flood victims. All the villagers were extremely overjoyed and pulled up the lost courage to work in clearing all the remaining problems, as the floods started receding after damaging many villages in Mahaboobnagar and the Kurnool town itself.
Villagers of Kutkanur said to ISS volunteers, that nobody is taking care of these remote areas which were severely affected by the flood. They expressed real happiness over ISS reaching this remote place to help the really needed people. Later, ISS volunteers distributed the kits prepared by the ISS employees, to help the families of the victims.
About 105 kits were distributed to deserving families. 98% of the Kutkanur villagers were covered by ISS volunteers in distributing the kits. Each kit contained many daily required items like Rice, Dal, Tamrind, Bed Sheets, Bread, Fruits, biscuits, clothes, Note books and Pens etc. However, ISS team and volunteers with all its best efforts were able to participate generously in this first phase of Flood relief operations. On the other hand, the Village Kutkanur is mostly populated by poor and lower middleclass families. Our ISS Volunteers distributed kits to all the victims irrespective of any religion or race.
On the above all , we from Radiant Group would like to congratulate the entire team of ISS and especially volunteers for their contribution for a noble cause.
